It’s been a year since I’ve visited the amazing Galapagos islands. It was by far one of my favourite trips and I seriously cannot wait to go back there (even though most people say it’s a once in a lifetime experience). We took an 8-day cruise and saw so many different islands, animals and landscapes, and the days were packed with activities such as hiking and snorkelling. Something I didn’t expect, was the diversity of the islands. Okay okay, I know this was basically the essence of Darwin’s evolution theory, but I didn’t expect to really see the differences between the islands and their flora and fauna.
The Galapagos islands are called the Enchanted Island for a reason – it’s just magnificent out there. To me, words cannot describe how beautiful that part of the world is and how much I enjoyed this trip. One part I particularly liked were spotting animals, everywhere, every time. As a huge animal lover, I had a smile on my face all day every day during the cruise as we saw countless of turtles, sea lions, iguanas, sharks, fish and birds.
As images say more than a thousand words, below are some of my favourite pictures of these gorgeous creatures. Unfortunately, most of the animals I photographed were land based, as I didn’t have a Go Pro or a similar type of camera. One thing I’d highly recommend when you travel the Galapagos! (Check out this post for my other trips).
Enjoy – and if you’ve been, what was your favourite animal of the Galapagos?
