Going back to paradise: Chapada dos Veadeiros

A few weeks ago I packed my bags once again (I’ve travelled a lot lately) and took another road trip to Chapada dos Veadeiros. I had been there before, and that Friday-Sunday getaway truly felt like a short holiday. The ambiance in Chapada is just so relaxing: the moment you enter São Jorge, the weight of the week just falls off your shoulders. I had high expectations when I returned this time and I wasn’t disappointed. Hiking, getting a massage, buying crystals, and even seeing another toucan – I returned to Brasilia completely recharged. Let me take you along:

We did the 9km hike in the National Park of Chapada dos Veadeiros and enjoyed the spectacular views.

This time, we decided to drive a little further and go past São Jorge. We drove through massive rain showers, but the scenery was spectacular. The flora seemed to be more tropical and this is also where we saw the toucan. Driving on the hills, the views from the road were absolutely stunning (unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of this, as I couldn’t stop).

We ended our trip by stopping at Vale da Lua (Moon Valley), a surreal place with large geological rock formations contrasted against lush green hills.

Being back in Brasilia, I can’t wait to plan my next trip to Chapada dos Veadeiros!
